Wastewater lift station pump
Application Method
The location of the faulty weld was tight and difficult to reach, but a dremel tool was able to just reach in and remove the paint and corrosion and roughen the surface. During the application the pump was not running, but there was still a small amount of water pressure causing a slow seeping drip. Belzona 1212 was mixed according to the IFU and allowed to sit on the mixing board until only 45 seconds of working life was remaining. Then the 1212 was quickly applied over the active seep and pushed into place by hand. This slowed the seep considerably, and one final batch of 1212 was mixed and applied in the same manner which stopped the leak completely.
Belzona Facts
The cost to replace this pump would be in the $20,000.00 range, and to remove the pump to reweld the area would probably cost around $5,000.00. The Belzona solution of using Belzona 1212 allowed for a repair using a small amount of material, and an hour of time, and was carried out while the pump was in its usual rotation of not being used.
