Problem: These 50 year old pumps were getting very close to their end of life from sand filtering water service aboard tow boats in the brown waters in the Gulf of Mexico. The client did not want to re-design a new system due to the pumps not being made for the last 15 years by the manufacturer.

Application Situation
Belzona was approximately 1/8th of the cost per pump of re-designing and ordering a new pumping system for every boat. The client also was able to put each pump set back in service 3 days from dropping them off.Application Method
The pumps were brought to the shop, de-salted, blasted to above a 3-mil average, rebuilt with 1311 and coated with two coats of 1331.Belzona Facts
The client chose Belzona due to already having done many successful firewater pump repairs with 1121 and 1341. These pumps were discontinued and would have been a tremendous amount of capital to re-design for new systems.After success with the first two pumps on Boat #1, over 20 have now been coated with 24 more scheduled for the same Belzona treatment.
