Problem: Due to severe corrosion these pipes were leaking exhaust gases in an area close to personell gangways creating a safety hazard. Temperatures in the area reached 200 C.

Application Situation

Exhaust manifold piping.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet VPF-11. A thin plate was bonded to cover the defect area and to prevent ingress of product during application. Two consecutive layers of Belzona 1511 HT Metal reinforced with Belzona 9341 were applied leaving a solid composite wrap of 20mm thickness.

Belzona Facts

Due to exhaust leaks close to personell gangways, the customer required a fast and effective solution to prevent the gases escaping until the next planned shut-down. The in-situ nature of the Belzona repair allowed this to be done quickly and efficiently saving the customer an unplanned shut-down to replace the pipe.
