Problem: The concrete floor of this battery treatment plant was badly damaged by the acid from the batteries. Around 400 tonnes of batteries are treated each day in this plant and the acid attacked the concrete leading to severe pitting up to 40cm deep.

Application Situation
Concrete floor of a battery treatment plant.
Application Method
The floor was first washed and the surface roughened. Then Belzona 4151 was used with silica sand to resurface the whole area and repair the pitting due to the attack of the acid. Finally, Belzona 4311 was used to protect the floor against further damage from the acid. This was completed in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-03.
Belzona Facts
The application was completed on a Friday afternoon and the equipment was back in service the following Monday. The customer chose Belzona because the team were very responsive to their questions and offered a solution quickly.
