Belzona anti-slip protection lasted 11 years

Problem: Concrete floor at the entrance into palletizing hall of a cement factory was smooth, especially when wet. The forklift wheels were slipping, which posed a safety risk for the personnel and equipment. During rainy periods, forklifts needed to operate carefully and slow, especially when doing sharp turns.

Application Situation
Customer needed a durable solution, which will roughen the surface and prevent forklift wheels to slip. The area of the problem zone is about 50 m2. The solution needed to withstand the load of a forklift carrying two pallets of cement. Customer had a narrow window for solving this problem, because of continuous production.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-8. Surface was thoroughly washed with pressurized water and detergent, then grit blasted and then washed again. After drying, non-slip pattern was created using masking tape. The width of the anti-slip strip was 10 cm, with the gaps between strips also 10 cm wide. Belzona 5231 was applied in a single layer, using the brush. Belzona 9221 Surefoot Aggregate was added to achieve desired roughness.
Belzona Facts
Palletizing and shipping of cement occurs continuously 6 days a week and the customer had a limited time frame to resolve this issue. We offered Belzona solution that can be applied during weekend without any disruption to the production. Monday morning the surface was ready for full loading and production could start regularly. The solution lasted for 11 years and the Customer was very satisfied with it. In May 2026 we repeated the application.
