Problem: A 1" pipe branching from the 14" main line has a crack and a leak at the joint area. As the line contains flammable fluids hot work is not an option.

Application Situation
A pipeline carrying gasoline at a petrochemical facility.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know How System Leaflet VPF – 11. (Application method (a) The surface of the pipe was properly prepared with the bristle blaster surface preparation tool to achieve adequate surface roughness. Belzona 9111 was used to wash down the area to be repaired. In order to remove all dirt, grease and surface contaminants. Selected Belzona 1212 was mixed in accordance with the Belzona Instructions For Use. Thin layer of Belzona 1212 was applied unto the prepared areas and pushing it well into the prepared profile/leak. Length of Belzona 9341 was wet out and then applied around the circumference of the pipe. Both 1’’ branch line and the 14” line. The reinforcement tape was firmly wrapped until the Belzona 1212 is forced through the outer surface. Further layer of Belzona 1212 was applied to completely encapsulate the repair area.
Belzona Facts
Due to the working environment and the location of the leak, hot work could not be carried out. The Belzona cold application was the ideal and cost-effective solution. Selected Belzona product has excellent surface tolerant on oily surfaces and has excellent adhesion to different metals.
