Application Situation
This hot water tank has been used for more than 10 years, mainly used to store and heat the freshwater made by the machine for the domestic water supply of the ship's staff. The coating has been repaired frequently. The interior is severely rusted. The thickness of the old coating is up to 1cm, accompanied by serious pit corrosion and even perforation. Internal medium: desalination of deionized water, heating, conductivity, etc.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5 and TCC-16b. Surface preparation shall be carried out for the tank area. After sandblasted to the required roughness, clean the surface and fill the pit area with Belzona 1311. Apply the first layer of Belzona 5892 for corrosion protection, then the second layer within the overcoating window. Wait for the product to cure, and then recoat the corner areas before the application complete.
Belzona Facts
This project is the second tank lining protection project for this asset owner. The sample test was done and the application on two hot water tanks was completed in 2019.
