Problem: The customer identified the cavitation damage during a routine inspection on a scheduled downtime day. With no spare pump available, a rapid repair solution was required to restore the damaged areas and return the pump to service as quickly as possible, minimizing production losses and avoiding an extended unplanned outage.

Application Situation
We were able to save this customer several days of downtime due to them not having a backup pump. We completed this repair and coating in just two days and the customer will get to install the pump and return to service in one more day after proper curing time is achieved. This will save the customer over $500k in downtime and replacement cost of a new pump.
Application Method
Once we had a plan in place to repair and coat we began by taping off the areas that were not getting repaired or a coating. Next we cleaned the surface to remove any oils or process chemicals. Then we blasted the surface to a 3mil profile. Once the surface was removed of any blasting materials and cleaned with 100% MEK we made the repairs using Belzona 1311. After proper curing time was achieved then we applied Belzona 1341 using a semi-stiff bristle brush. To complete the project we applied Belzona 2141 with a stiff bristle brush to achieve the proper thickness and coverage.

We were able to win this project from past success with this customer. Cost savings was over $500k in total.. There was no other option other than purchasing a new pump. We were able to secure a six month routine inspection on this and other pumps in their process.
