End suction pump casing repaired with Belzona

Problem: A pump used for moving waste water had eroded to the point where it had begun leaking. A temporary repair had been attempted but now a more permeant fix was required. The pump cutwater was experiencing the worst erosion.

Application Situation

The shutdown opportunity was available for the pump to be opened so a long term fix could be put into place.

Application Method

The area was first grit blasted to SA2.5 & 75 microns. A holed area was rebuilt using Belzona 1311 internally & a bonded metal doubler plate on the external. Two coats of Belzona 1321 were then applied for future erosion/corrosion protection.

Belzona Facts

Using this system meant minimal downtime & increased longevity for the pump to go back into service. The intention is to replace the full pumping station so this repair will see them to the end of that period.
