Application Situation

Application Method

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-8. The worn areas were masked off, cleaned and dried prior to application of the Belzona system. Two coats of Belzona 5811 were applied then blinded out with Belzona 9231 Aggregate and tamped down with a piece of timber. Once the product had cured all loose aggregate was removed to reveal the desired non-slip surface.

Belzona Facts

The 126 meter bridge stretches across the River Tyne and since its opening in 2001 has seen significant footfall. The Belzona repair solution, first applied in 2012 was revisited in 2016 and showed no signs of deterioration. Areas around the repair have worn away but the Belzona high performance system is still sound.
