Problem: The leaking sludge discharge pipe was an environmental issue due to possible contamination of the land, therefore, they required an fast repair.

Application Situation

Customer had a major leak on one of their main sludge pit discharge pipes which was buried 1 metre below ground.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet VPF-11. The pipework was prepared using hand tools and degreased with Belzona 9111. The leak was plugged using Belzona 9611. Both pipe and bonding plates where wetted out using Belzona 1161, bonded together and held in position with straps then left to cure.

Belzona Facts

Customer had looked at using a pipe repair company to carry out repair and they proposed cutting out section and installing new section of pipe. However, they required 3 days to conduct the repair which would mean stopping areas of plant production. The Belzona solution was less expensive and carried out within 1/2 a day saving them significant costs and downtime on site.
