Repairs to corroded internal sealing faces at a paper mill

Problem: The customer had severely corroded sealing faces. Due to difficult with access, grit blasting was not an option and there was only a very short window of time to carry out any repairs. Customer required a long lasting permanent solution to the issue.

Surface preparation carried out and area degreased

Former plate applied to defective area and Belzona 1311 allowed to cure

Application Situation
Due to difficult with access, shot blasting was not an option and there was only a very short window of time to carry out any repairs. Customer required a long lasting permanent solution to the issue.
Application Method
The area’s were degreased and then wetted out using Belzona 1161 Super UW-Metal (Surface tolerant product) and allowed to cure.

The surface was then lightly abraded and then wetted out with Belzona 1311 Ceramic R-Metal.

Belzona 1311 was then applied to the former plates which had been coated with Belzona 9411 Release Agent, and then put up against the worn faces and allowed to cure.

The customer received a long term solution in a difficult to access area. This solution was performed within tight deadlines, saving the customer on the cost of an extended shutdown period.
