Problem: Roll crushers in use in a sludge processing plant were experiencing excessive wear in service.

Roll crushers machined & put into service. Image taken 18 months, minor damage noted.

Application Situation

The sludge used within the site was highly abrasive & corrosive. An abrasion resistant system was required to protect these crushers & extend their life.

Application Method

A profile was machined into the surface of the crushers. Scrubbing brushes were used to wet out the surface. 5mm of Belzona 1812 was then built up. The surface was then machined down flat on a large lathe with PCD cutting tools.

Belzona Facts

These crushers go into service for around 18 months before being taken out. Minor repairs from contact with hard objects is noted & can typically be spot repaired.
