Problem: Bi-metallic corrosion had eroded much of the metal despite the placement of sacrificial zinc anodes on side of units.

  1. Units after blasting showing extent of erosion with center and outer locating ring rebuilt.
  2. Rebuild of other areas in progress using flexible plastic forms and G-clamps.
  3. All rebuilding completed with filing and sanding in progress to ensure smoothness.
  4. Application completed with units protected with 2 coats of Belzona 1341.

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-3 and CEP-5.

The repair of these units using Belzona was less than the cost of replacement with new units, which saved the fire department many thousands of dollars.
