Problem: Pulsation dampeners are devices used in fluid systems to reduce pressure fluctuations and pulsations caused by reciprocating pumps, compressors, or other sources of unsteady flow. However, if not properly protected, these dampeners are highly susceptible to erosion and corrosion, which can lead to significant damage and premature failure.

Application Situation

The dampeners previously suffered from severe corrosion and erosion, often leading to costly repairs and frequent replacements. However, after the application of the Belzona repair and coating system, these issues have been effectively resolved. The dampeners now remain in operation for longer periods and are frequently returned for re-coating due to the proven reliability of the solution.

Application Method

The dampener is abrasive blasted to achieve a minimum surface profile of 75 microns and a near-white metal finish in accordance with SA 2.5 standards. Following surface preparation, the repair and coating solution is applied using a short-bristle brush, as per the Instructions for Use (IFU).

Belzona delivered significant cost savings for the customer. The dampeners were previously experiencing frequent failures and required regular replacement. With the application of Belzona's ceramic coating system, replacements are now avoided, and the units are returned periodically for re-coating, extending their service life and improving reliability.
