Belzona 1111 fixing a scored shaft

Problem: Minor scoring on the shaft in the bearing area. The roller had been rebuilt, and the customer wanted to repair the shaft before reinstalling without causing any further delays. Damaged shafts are a common problem, so this application also served as a training for the in-house maintenance team. The former that was used was made in-house and can be used on other shafts as well.

Application Situation
The TND roller had been completely rebuilt and refurbished and was ready to reinstall. The shaft had been overlooked and they needed a fast and reliable repair option. The overall application took 4 hours from start to finish and was left overnight to cure and was ready for installation the following day without any further delays.
Application Method
A hand grinder was used to prep and roughen the surface, solvent was used to wash the contaminants away, and a heat gun was used for roughly 20 minutes to ensure the material was set in order to remove the former. Emery cloth was used to machine the application to the desired profile.

This repair used about $75 USD of Belzona 1111 and saved several thousands in shipping and repair costs. It was done on-site with in-house people and was used as a training so future applications can be done as needed.
