Problem: This municipality was considering ordering a new pump for upwards of $35,000 but the lead time was 6 months or more. Since they'd had some experience with Belzona they called and asked for some assistance.

Condition of pump casing when pulled from service.

Pump grit blasted and new wear rings positioned.

Finished application with the wear rings rebuilt and the pump casing coated with Belzona 1341N (Supermetalglide).

Application Situation

To replace this pump was upwards of $35,000 in 1998 dollars. Belzona was able to rebuild the wear rings, cutwater and apply two coats of their energy efficiency coating and return this pump to service in a few days. The replacement part was going to take more than six months to obtain.

Application Method

Pump was grit blasted then degreased using Belzona 9111 (Cleaner/Degreaser). Wear rings were cast and cutwater was formed using Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal). Then one coat of Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) was applied followed by two coats of Belzona 1341N (Supermetalglide).
