Application Situation

With full time operation and only one down day, doing floor repair is a difficult task as they need a material that can be walked on in less than one day of application. Belzona 4111 was the perfect solution. Due the higher temperature in the foundry, the Belzona 4111 was ready for pedestrian traffic in 4 hours.

Application Method

The damaged concrete areas were prepped with a hand grinder and wire wheel to remove all loose material and roughen the surface. The Belzona 4911 conditioner was applied with a short bristled brush, and the Belzona 4111 was applied by hand, pushed firmly into the repair areas, and finished with a steel trowel.

Other concrete repair materials had been tried, and all had failed. The damaged areas were causing trip hazards, and making it difficult to push wheeled carts over the floor. The Belzona 4111 solution allowed the customer to address many different areas from small divots to large cracks and areas where previous walls had been removed leaving deep areas of damage. Being able to do the application during their one day shutdown and return to service well before the plant began to operate was a huge positive for their maintenance team. They also liked the simplicity of the application process, and that there is no chemical/solvent smell when mixing and applying the Belzona materials. The ease of application also allows them to do further concrete repairs as needed on a more regular basis. Checking back with the customer 6 months later showed all of these repairs in perfect condition, and many other areas that they have repaired themselves since.
