Problem: Hot works in the area were not possible due to the asset remaining in service. The plug was no longer effective, and the leak required sealing.

Anwendungssituation

A large diameter valve had a redundant plug that was leaking fluid. A cold solution was required to seal this leak.

Anwendungsverfahren

The area was prepared mechanically. Belzona 1212 was then applied to the surface to prevent any further fluid egress and encapsulate the plug in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet VPF-11.

Belzona-Fakten

It was possible to carry out these works cold. Hot works would have been more hazardous & had the possibility of distorting the gate valve.
Due to restrictions on photography onsite, an updated picture is not possible. However, the application has been reviewed three years later and the repair is still in good condition and preventing leaks.
