Problem: The track, manifold, and wave-generation system tyre rims have experienced corrosion, which may lead to future air leakage even within a short period of operation, resulting in a significant reduction in equipment efficiency. Furthermore, wear and deterioration around the rubber seals have compromised proper sealing, adversely affecting overall system performance and operational reliability.
The tyre rims of the wave-generation system have developed corrosion, which could result in air leakage within a short period of operation if not addressed.
The procedure began with grit blasting to obtain the specified surface profile, followed by thorough surface cleaning using Belzona 9111 (Cleaner Degreaser).
The pitted areas were subsequently restored using Belzona 1121 (Super XL-Metal) in accordance with the Belzona Instructions for Use (IFU). Upon completion of curing, the first coat of Belzona 5811 was applied.
Finally, a two-coat application of Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade) was carried out in accordance with the IFU guidelines, ensuring long-term corrosion resistance and durable protection.
Application Situation
By carrying out proper surface preparation through grit blasting, followed by the application of Belzona 1121 (Super XL-Metal) combined with Belzona 9341 reinforcement sheet for pitting reconstruction, and final coating with Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade), the need for component replacement was successfully avoided. This repair solution significantly reduced the customer’s repair and maintenance costs while restoring integrity and improving overall operational efficiency.
Application Method
The application was executed in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-1, CEP-3, and CEP-4, ensuring full compliance with industry best practices for corrosion protection and extended equipment service life.
