Application Situation
The bearing alone costs $20,000, and its failure resulted in significant losses due to the halted VRM crushing operation. Ordering a new housing and bearing would have taken months, further exacerbating the financial impact. However, Belzona was able to rebuild the damaged components for a fraction of the cost—just a few thousand dollars—restoring the VRM to operation within three days.
Application Method
Using Belzona release agent and Belzona 1121, the old bearing was utilized as a former to restore the damaged/worn area to its original profile. Surface preparation was carried out using power tools to achieve the minimum profile recommended by Belzona IFU.
Belzona Facts
There was no viable alternative to this solution, as ordering new spare parts would have been time-consuming and costly. By using Belzona, we saved the customer approximately $50,000 in replacement costs and losses, all for less than 10% of that amount."
