Problem: There are sand holes at the base of the threaded pipe at the inlet to the drum cooler, resulting in a slight gas leak. The circumferential welded seam of the threaded pipe requires reinforcement and protection. The pipe is a negative-pressure pipe with a diameter of 1.4 metres and operates at ambient temperature.

Application Situation

The pipe is a negative-pressure pipe with a diameter of 1.4 metres and operates at ambient temperature. The medium is coke oven gas. The client requires online reinforcement and strengthening of weld seam. Superwrap II system was chosen by client because it requires no hot work, allows for in-situ maintenance whilst the pipeline is in operation, and is easy for application.

Application Method

Seal the sand holes with Belzona 1212, then rebulid the entire circumference of the weld seam with Belzona 1111. Finally, use the Superwrap II system to reinforce the pipeline as a whole.
