Belzona rescues an air handler unit over the weekend

Problem: The internal surfaces of the air handler suffered from heavy corrosion due to lack of maintenance and poor performance coatings. Corroded section required removal, new metal was bonded and protective coating was applied to extend the life.

Application Situation

The units was severely corroded to the point of significant metal loss. The rust needed to be removed, new metal was bonded, and coating was required to protect and extend the life of this unit.

Application Method

Corrosion was removed using power tools. Most of the metal was cut out, and replaced with new metal using bonding techniques. Then, one coat of Belzona 5831 and a final coat Belzona 5811 were applied.

Belzona Facts

The surface tolerant properties of Belzona 1161 and Belzona 5831 were a decisive factor for the customer. Surface preparation couldn't be optimal due to excessive humidity. The certified applicator was also committed to complete the job over the weekend.
