Belzona seals leaks in clear water storage tank

Problem: Due to the design of the tank sealing these joints from the external is very challenging. A solution that ensured the leaks would be stopped was required. The flexibility of the GRP also had to be considered during load/unloading of the tank.

Application Situation
A clean water storage tank had developed several leaks from the sectional joints that hold the tank together.Application Method
The GRP areas were prepared mechanically to a 40 micron profile. It was decided to repair all the joints to ensure no leaking areas were missed.Belzona 1111 Supermetal was applied to fill the gap inbetween the joints. Belzona 1981 with Belzona 9381 was then applied as a band over the joint areas.
Two coats of Belzona 5811 DW2 were then applied over the bands to terminate back onto the GRP of the tank.
