Problem: The traditional welding method has failed on a fully propagated crack, resulting in crude oil leakage from the pump bypass valve.

Application Situation

The pump was situated in a cramped pump station room, and replacing the component would have demanded significantly more time and money. Belzona provided a quick repair solution at a fraction of the cost using 4kg of Belzona 1161.

Application Method

The surface was roughened through grinding and subsequently cleaned. A first layer of Belzona 1161 was applied to the internal and external sides of the bypass valve. Belzona Reinforcement tape, embedded on both sides with Belzona 1161, was used to strengthen the repair, which was then covered with an additional layer of Belzona 1161.
