Problem: Hand pallet trucks were continually losing their load, due to an old, problematic, expansion joint. The pallet trucks had small, hard wheels and suitability for them traversing uneven ground was limited.

Area demarcated, prepared and cleaned

Foam Backer rod installed and Belzona 2911 (Elastomer QD Conditioner) applied

Expansion joint complete and tape removed

Problem solved with the Belzona 2211 (MP Hi-Build Elastomer) ensuring an even run for the hand pallet trucks

Application Situation
The client had tried to solve this issue many times. Polysulphide constantly failed, plated made the floor more uneven and wooden battens had been fixed by drill and screw which soon broke up and became detached.
The Belzona engineer discussed the issue and offered to carry out the works along with one of the company's employees, effectively offering on-site training. This spec was accepted
Application Method
Remove all loose and friable material from the target area
Vacuum the joint to remove dust and debris
Tape the sides of the joint to help deliver a clean application line
Offer in the foam backer rod do a depth of half the width of the joint
Apply a coat of Belzona 2911 (Elastomer QD Conditioner) with a short bristled brush
Mix the Belzona 2211 (MP Hi-Build Elastomer) in a mixing bowl and steadily pour the elastomer in, avoiding the inclusion of air bubbles
Use an applicator to smooth out the application and remove all tape

Using a flexible elastomer was the perfect solution for the client, the speed of installation was key, as was the fact that the company gained valuable training of the application and has since gone on to carry out many similar upgrades without the cost of engaging external contactors
