Problem: The spool had deteriorated over the years and created a wear area that caused a leak.

Assessing the situation before beginning. You can see the live leak. This is where we came up with the plan to stop the leak using Belzona 9611 and 1111 with reinforcement cloth.

Next we cleaned and prepped the surface area using a MBX Bristle Blaster to create a profile for the Belzona to adhere to.

Once the preparation was completed we used Belzona 9611 in the form of a Hershey Kiss and plugged the hole and applied a tourniquet to hold the 9611 in place for about 10-15 minutes.

To complete the application, we applied Belzona 1111 to the surface area and to the reinforcement cloth and wrapped the entire spool.

Application Situation
The cost savings on this application was huge. Over a half of a million dollars to be exact. They would have had to shut down the process to over half the facility for 1-2 days just to cut the water off to this area and replace the spool. We had no down time and cure time was only a couple of hours,
Application Method
We used 100% MEK to clean the surface with followed by a MBX Bristle Blaster to prep the surface area. We used the applicator pad provided by Belzona to apply the 1111.
Belzona Facts
