Application Situation
54 inch jet valve
Application Method
The surface was prepared by blast cleaning to meet the minimum requirement of SA 2 1/2 or equivalent in accordance with ISO 8501-1. All edges or irregular protrusions were ground to a smooth contour and all dust, blast media and other debris were removed. All surfaces were degreased using a suitable cleaner-degreaser. The mixed Belzona 1111 was scrubbed into the pit in order to wet it out completely. Once wetted out, additional Belzona 1111 was applied to fill the pit and not just bridge . over it. An applicator was used to contour Belzona 1111 to the shape of the vessel. Once cured, Belzona 1341 was applied at a thickness of 250-300 microns. The surface preparation for the valve was carried out as it was for the pitted areas. Belzona 1341 was then applied as a stripe coat and overcoated within the 24 hours overcoating window. The applied material was visually checked for pinholes to ensure proper application.
