Application Situation
The horizontal vessel that separates the well fluids into gas and two types of liquids: oil and water is effected by corrosion and also by erosion on the bottom of the first chamber where there is a wash system. The water injection removes the polluted ground sand particles from separator.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets TCC-5. The separator surface was cleaned, degreased and grit blasted. Following the grit blasting, stripe coating of all internal weld areas and outer edges were completed and areas of severe corrosion and pitting were identified and repaired using Belzona 1111 Super Metal.  A two coat system of Belzona 5892 was applied to protect the separator from further corrosion. The lower section of the first separator stage was then coated with two layers of Belzona 1381 for added erosion-corosion resistance.
Belzona Facts
Both Belzona systems coatings were chosen due to their excellent heat resistance properties, resistance to explosive decompression and proven longevity. As a plus Belzona 1381 was chosen for its superior erosion resistance. The Belzona solution allowed for a quick return to service with the added advantage of ease of appplication. There were no other viable alternative solutions due to the clients tight time scale requirements.
