Ejector Oil Surge Drum protected against chemical atack
Industry: Oil & Gas (OILG)
Application: TCC-Tanks and Chemical Containment Areas (TCC)
Substrate: Carbon steel
Customer Location: United Kingdom
Application Date: June 2024
Products: Belzona 1593
Problem: A new ejector oil surge drum required a protective coating for high temperatures and chemical resistance against sulfuric acid
Application Situation
A new ejector oil surge drum was commissioned and as part of the specification, required a chemical resistant and high temperature coating to prolong life expectancy of asset
Application Method
Surface preparation was carried out by grit blasting, within our state of the art blasting booth.
Once the steel substrate had been prepared to a standard of minimum surface profile of 75µm and a surface cleanliness of SA 2½, our technicians inserted nozzle inserts using premanufactured components.
Next a 2 coat system of Belzona 1593 was applied at a target thickness of 375µm per coat.
Belzona Facts
Belzona 1593 will outperform conventional Vinyl Ester Glass Flake (VEGF) coatings in terms of mechanical strength and adhesion, together with reduced shrinkage and VOC emissions. It bonds strongly to most metallic surfaces and presents an excellent retention of adhesion at elevated temperatures. This high performance coating is also resistant to steam-out process to 210°C (410°F) and rapid depressurisation.
